Ending youth homelessness, one child at a time

"A Place to Call Home" is an initiative of the Leadership Greater Rochester Class through the Rochester Chamber of Commerce.  Our mission is to address the homelessness crisis facing our youth by increasing public awareness and encouraging community collaboration. Our class involvement began in January 2011 and will continue through May.  We are constructing the framework for a system that uses collaboration across organizations and the sharing of resources to better serve homeless youth in Southeastern Minnesota, as well as raise public awareness of the problem of youth homelessness in our community and our nation.

The APTCH project arose from a process of determining a project that was feasible, sustainable, and wanted by the community. In speaking with area organizations it was found that there were a number of organizations serving homeless youth, but that they could use some help monetarily, as well as functionally. As we further researched the needs of the organizations, we wondered if there was potentially an opportunity to bring these organizations together to share their knowledge and resources in order to affect change more quickly and efficiently. Public and organizational awareness and support will be imperative to helping these kids find the resources they need when they come upon hard times.

A Place To Call Home's mission is to address the homelessness crisis facing our youth by increasing public awareness and encouraging community collaboration.
